Themed word lists are the swappable module of every puzzle book. Create, validate, and store lists here; every generator consumes them via handoff. Lists that fail validation cannot be sent downstream.

Stored lists live in this browser only. Export or keep your JSON files as the durable copy.
Compose (hodgepodge)
Merge stored lists into one variety list. Each source becomes a broad
sub-theme section named after its theme; its original sections carry over as fine sub-themes. Duplicates are
resolved automatically — the earlier pick keeps the word, so pick order is priority order.
No stored lists to compose from.
Defaults to the widest of the sources. Entries longer than this are
dropped and counted below — BED AND BREAKFAST places as 15 letters however it is
punctuated, so a list that keeps it disagrees with the grid that has to hold it.
Off by default. Clusters the library marks format: clued are
sound and manner words written to be read with a clue — THRUMMING, WEIGHTLESS,
WHISTLING. In a word search, which never shows one, they print as a list of adjectives.
Criss-Cross and Cryptogram still want them.
Grouped sub-theme runs stay fresh for roughly
(section size ÷ words per puzzle) consecutive puzzles — a section of 112+ words covers a full
run of 8 at 14 words/puzzle.
Edit list
Longest word a target grid can hold. Word search default: 15.
Spaces, hyphens and apostrophes are stripped for placement automatically — the display form keeps them.
